Course Description

Taxpayers should adopt new accounting methods to implement valuable tax strategies and maintain compliance and remove IRS audit exposure. Accounting methods can be used as a tax-planning tool. With tax reform in effect for 2018 and the corresponding reduction in rates, taxpayers may have additional benefit to use accounting methods to shift income into 2017, while the tax rates are still high. Upon course completion, you'll be able to:
  • Describe several popular accounting method changes
  • Correct improper accounting methods to eliminate audit risk and maintain compliance with tax law
  • Help taxpayers implement tax minimization strategies, including:
    • Cost segregation studies and energy efficiency incentives
    • Adopting favorable provisions of the Tangible Property Regulations
