Course Description

As Excel expert, David Ringstrom says, "Either you work Excel, or it works you." After attending this live, practical webinar, you'll no longer be intimidated by large Excel spreadsheets! You will learn techniques and keyboard shortcuts that enable you to gain control over unwieldy workbooks, save time, avoid repetitive tasks, improve the integrity of your spreadsheets, and more. You will see each technique demonstrated at least twice: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in Excel 2016. You will learn to recognize any differences in Excel 2013, 2010, or 2007 during the presentation, and will receive detailed handouts. You will also receive an Excel workbook that includes most of the examples reviewed during the webinar. Who Should Attend: Practitioners seeking to work more efficiently in large Excel workbooks as well as improve the integrity of their spreadsheets. You will learn how to:
  • Use the Watch Window to easily monitor the ramifications of even minor changes to your workbooks
  • Navigate large workbooks with ease by way of a hidden menu as well as keyboard shortcuts
  • Use a simple technique that can reduce the size of a large Excel workbook by 1/3 or more
  • Avoid repetitive work by creating a keyboard shortcut for Excel's Freeze Panes feature
  • Use Excel's OFFSET function to dynamically reference data from one or more accounting periods
  • Differentiate between manual and automatic calculation modes in Excel
  • Use Excel's Freeze Panes feature
  • Use the Group and Ungroup feature to expand or collapse rows and/or columns
  • Use the SUM Function to drill through two or more worksheets
  • Simplify repetitive tasks by creating your own keyboard shortcuts
Upon course completion, you will be able to:
  • Apply the Watch Window feature to monitor and to navigate key worksheet cells
  • Identify how to use Custom Views to manage the hidden or visible status of columns, rows, worksheets, print settings, and more
