Taxpayers should adopt new accounting methods to implement valuable tax strategies and maintain compliance and remove IRS audit exposure. Accounting methods can be used as a tax-planning tool. Upon course completion, you'll be able to:

About The Presenter
 
Alex Bagne is the President of ICS Tax, LLC (ICS), and serves as a licensed attorney and a certified public accountant. His expertise includes the tangible property regulations, cost segregation, energy efficiency incentives (179D/45L), research tax credits, fixed asset reviews, IC-DISC export incentives, and the LIFO inventory method. Prior to ICS, Alex worked for a decade with several Big Four firms, including Ernst & Young, Deloitte Tax, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is published in the AICPA's Tax Advisor magazine and Accounting Today. Alex earned a BSBA in accounting from The Ohio State University, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota, and a law degree from the Tulane School of Law. He is also the president and a certified member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP).

Sonia Walwyn is a director of the Tax Services practice at Duff & Phelps, with specific oversight of abandoned and unclaimed property. Sonia has utilized her experience of 30 years to assist clients on how to manage and defend against state-initiated audits and effectuate favorable settlements. Sonia served as sworn Deputy Treasurer/Deputy General Counsel to the Pennsylvania State Treasurer, and successfully defended Pennsylvania's unclaimed property statute before the Pennsylvania Supreme and appellate courts. Sonia has worked for two Big 4 accounting firms, serving as National Director and regional practice leader. Sonia earned an LLM in taxation from Villanova School of Law, a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law, and holds a B.S. in accounting from Elizabethtown. Sonia is a barred attorney and licensed CPA.
