Course Description

In this practical webinar, you will learn techniques you can use to verify the integrity of even the most complicated Excel spreadsheets from Excel expert, David Ringstrom, CPA. You will learn how to use Excel's formula auditing and error-checking tools, identify duplicates in a list, monitor the ramifications of even minor changes made to your workbooks, use the Evaluate Formula feature, and much more. You will see each technique demonstrated at least twice: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in Excel 2016. You will identify differences in Excel 2013, 2010, or 2007, and will receive detailed handouts. You will also receive an Excel workbook that includes the examples presented during the webinar. Who Should Attend: Practitioners who review and audit Excel spreadsheets created by others, or those who wish to improve the integrity of their own spreadsheets. You will learn how to:
  • Audit all named cells in a workbook with ease by way of the INDIRECT function in all versions of Excel and the FORMULATEXT function in Excel 2013 and later
  • Trace dependents and precedents, both with Excel features and keyboard shortcuts
  • Identify the pros and cons of using the F9 key within Excel's formula bar to evaluate a portion of a formula
  • Go beyond simply adding cell comments: easily hide, display, and locate all cells that contain comments
  • Multiply hours by hourly rates to summarize payroll information with a single formula with Excel's SUMPRODUCT function
  • Use the N function to annotate formulas within the formula bar when a cell comment won't suffice
  • Identify duplicates in a list using Conditional Formatting
  • Print a list of all cell comments on a worksheet or print visible comments
  • Identify the nuances of circular references in Microsoft Excel
  • Bring Excel's green error-checking prompts under control by managing the underlying rules
  • Use the Watch Window to easily monitor the ramifications of even minor changes to your workbooks
  • Move through formulas in slow motion with the Evaluate Formula feature
Upon course completion, you will be able to:
  • Identify how to add, review, and print worksheet comments with ease
  • Apply the N function to annotate formulas within the formula bar
  • Use the Watch Window to monitor changes made to your spreadsheets
